Abstract

Dibrugarh district in Assam is having predominantly a rural base and very rich in forest resources. Monkey’s habitation in Dibrugarh district is largely noticeable and mainly belongs to the Assamese Macaque and the Rhesus Macaque. The agricultural farm product of Dibrugarh district is generally marketed through the traditional channels. The farmers producing traditional agricultural products are very often affected by the monkey’s invasion and crop raiding in different selected pockets, close to the reserve forest areas. The study proposes to analysis the shifting pattern of marketing of agricultural farm products due to the monkey’s invasion. The result shows that the farmers changed their crop pattern from most vulnerable agricultural items to less vulnerable farm products. The marketing channel is also indicating a visible change from traditional indirect marketing to direct marketing.
