Sustainable Development of Asian Countries- A Road Map and Challenges (With special reference to U.N., BRICS and India)

Abstract
At the 1992 Rio Earth Summit (U.N. Conference on Environment and Development), the world embraced the idea of sustainable development. BRICS, being the group of emerging nations, was formed with the objectives of improving global economics situation, reforming financial institutions and improving co-operation between member nations and also to increase the involvement of developing countries in global affairs. With the rising importance of Asian region in global sustainable development, it is essential to explore various ways of enhancing regional co-operation to implement the sustainable development goals, by mobilising the necessary means of implementation. U.N. members have agreed upon the importance of coherent, efficient, inclusive and effective follow up and review process at global, regional and national levels.
