Abstract
As part of the Environment for Europe initiative, on June 25, 1998, during the Fourth Ministerial Conference in the Danish city of Aarhus (Århus), the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) ratified the Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making, and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters. The convention was titled “Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making, and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters.” On October 30, 2001, it became a statutory necessity.
